Jatayu Rama temple is the place where spirit of Shree Ram bearing his bow Kodanda (symbol of power, valour, and divine weaponry) is amalgamating with the mission of "woman safety" derived from Jatayu's self-sacrifice to save the life of Mata Sita Devi from Ravan. This Global Pilgrim Tourist spot is located over a 1000 feet tall rick hill in 'Jatayu Mangalam' now known as Chadayamangalam, Kollam District, Kerala State, India. Devotees need to climb steep hill sidewalk way (hundreds of stone steps) to reach the shrine, which will take 30 to 45 minutes. Over the 1000 feet rock hill we find "Rama Padam" Gigantic Footprint of Shree Ram embossed over rock and "Kokkarani”, the pit which has never ending springhead, filled with crystal clear water throughout the year including peak summer.

“ A Promise, A Guru's yearning, A disciple's manifestation, Apunya kshetra symbolising the eternal connection between Shree Rama and Veera Jatayu was born!” - A conversation between Swamiji and his disciple
Way back in the 1970's, when Swami Sathyananda Saraswathi of the Ramadasa Ashram was travelling with his staunch disciple Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan, Swamiji narrated the spiritual significance of the Jatayu Rock. Swamiji through his divine wisdom realised the eternal presence of Lord Rama, Lord Hanuman & The Divine Jatayu and expressed his vision to protect this holy land and to construct a temple dedicated to Lord Shree Rama. This place was once an abode for criminals and antisocial elements. Swamiji along with hundreds of devotees carried the 13 feet statue of Lord Kodandarama on top of the Jatayu Rock. Numerous attempts were made by antisocial elements to damage the idol. Swamiji's devotion, dedication and ultimate surrender to Lord Rama protected the idol. As the saying goes, “ Dharmo Rakshathi Rakshitah” - Dharma protects those who protects it. 1. Here please add a link to the website of Sree Ramadasa Mission ,Chengottukonam 2.
