Sree Kodanda Rama

Kodanda Rama is a significant depiction of Lord Rama in Valmiki's Ramayana, often portrayed with a bow (Kodanda) in hand, symbolizing his role as a warrior and protector of dharma. In this form, Rama embodies the virtues of courage, righteousness, and unwavering commitment to justice. His Kodanda, a powerful bow, represents the strength he wields in defending the oppressed and upholding cosmic order. Throughout the epic, Rama is depicted using his Kodanda to battle formidable adversaries, most notably in his fight against the demon king Ravana during the rescue of his wife, Sita. His skill with the bow is unparalleled, marking him as one of the greatest archers in the Ramayana. In this form, Rama is not just a king but also a divine protector, embodying the ideal of a warrior who fights only when necessary, driven by duty rather than desire. Kodanda Rama’s image symbolizes his readiness to defend righteousness and protect the innocent, making him a revered figure for his courage and moral integrity. His stance with the bow also conveys the balance of strength and compassion that defines his character. The major Vazhipadu or offering to Lord Rama is the Abhishekam in this temple and this is conducted daily. On special occasions like RamaNavami and Deepavali there are special poojas and offerings. Kodandarama is guarded by Prathishdha of Hanuman right in the front
